It started when Christy and Gordon moved next door to an Irishman, Patrick Thurmond and Gordon fell in love with Irish fiddling. Christy began playing guitar and singing with Patrick and Gordon and people started asking us to play for parties and weddings. We played every month at the Barnes and Noble in Tyler, Texas and the placce would be totally SRO . we started traveling regularly to Ireland to play and learn. We recorded two albums, “Life is All Chequered “ and “Angel on the Seventh Stair” with good success and performed all over Texas the southwest USA.

in 2001 Patrick needed a break and we met John Delaney (vocals, flute, whistles, hammered dulcimer, concertina saxophones), and Betsy (accordion, vocals and bodhran) and the current lineup of Beyond The Pale was formed. So we just kept having fun, writing songs, performing and touring until we had written enough material for our third album” Strange Turns” with guest piper Richard Kean That was a big success so we just kept at it.

We love traveling together, seeing our great country and the world while enjoying meeting new people and performing for them. We don’t see why we would ever stop!

We love all kinds of music so our music is a blend of all those influences: traditional Irish, folk, jazz, blues, rock, country and pop. That gives rise to really fun and exciting things like an Irish jig version of a ‘60s biker anthem or a PInk Floyd cover with an original Northumbrian style tune mixed in!

We just want to keep going and to see where all this takes us! Can’t wait!
